Whatcom County
Located in the furthest northwest county of the continental United States. Bordered on the west by Puget Sound, on the north by British Columbia, on the east by the beautiful Cascade Mountains, including Mount Baker, and on the south by the foothills of Skagit County. Creating many communities in which to purchase your new home. Whether you are looking for a Bellingham home, Ferndale home, Birch Bay home, Lynden Home, Everson home, or just a home in Whatcom County. the diversity of this beautiful area will enhance your lifestyle.
The county is serviced with transportation by AmTrak, Burlington Northern Railway, Interstate 5 Highway, Bellingham International Airport, various bus lines, deep-water port, Alaska Ferry System and many other transportation facilities.
Much of the county is moutainous and is part of the National Forest and Parks. A Bellingham home is only fifty miles from the highest peak in the North Cascade mountain range. Mount Baker (10,778 feet), an ice clad volcano provides the state's longest ski season along with great snow-boarding. The volume of snow and ice on Mount Baker is greater than that of all the other Cascade Mountain volcanoes (with exception of Mt. Rainier) combined.
Squalicum Harbor is only minutes away from your Bellingham home and is the second largest harbor in Puget Sound.
Bellingham is located 90 miles north of Seattle and 23 miles south of the Canadian Internatonal Border.
Whatcom County is situated between two international, metropolitan cities. Vancouver, BC lies 60 miles north of Bellingham and 90 miles south to Seatle. All linked together by Interstate 5. So if you're looking for the big city life, your travel is short from your Bellingham home.
Ferndale Washington
Lies just north of Bellingham. A growing City on it's own, a person looking for a Ferndale home has many benefits. There are historical parks, Hovander State Park and Pioneer Park. Hovander Park is an original homestead kept by the state with gorgeous views of Mt. Baker, you can tour the museum, visit the farm, walk the boardwalk park, reserve for weddings, etc. Pioneer Park has one of the largest original log building museums in the country. A fun place to have a Ferndale home. Also, Ferndale homes offer diverse views from most areas.
Blaine Washington
The City of Blaine borders Canada and is know as the fourth corner of the United States. Blaine is also known as the Peace Arch City. Situated on the banks of Drayton Harbor. A Blaine home can now boast as being one located in a cute seaside community. Blaine offers local shopping, marina and the world class resort Semiahmoo. The beautiful Peach Arch State Park straddles the boundary between the United States and Canada. The 67 foot Peace Arch monument was dedicated in 1921 and commemorates the lasting peace between the two nations. This waterfront park has 40 acres of lawns and gardens, picnic areas and playgrounds. A Blaine home offers a mix of housing opportunities from quaint ninteenth century homes to luxury waterfront homes, condos, resorts and spas.
Blaine os also the home of the historic Washington Foot Passanger Ferry "The Plover", which takes tourists across the bay to Semiahoo spit and the Inn at Semiahmoo.
Birch Bay Washington
Affiliated with the City of Blaine, a Birch Bay home will provide you with 25% more sunshine than the rest of the county. 20 minutes north of Bellingham, 5 minute south of the Canadian border, provides an easy commute. Birch Bay boasts a warm water bay, great for swimming, crabbing, boating, etc. A Birch Bay home can be a luxury home as found in Semiahmoo, Pt. Whitehorn or on the waterfront itself, to a medium priced home found in Birch Bay Village, Sea Links Community, Bay Crest community or several others. There are also many Birch Bay condominiums to be found, many Birch Bay waterfront condominiums, or you can purchase a Birch Bay cottage. The waterslides, go carts, minature golf course add to the seasonal recreation found in this gorgeous part of the world.
Lynden Washington
Located just 15 miles northeast of Bellingham, a Lynden home can offer so many features. Lynden is located in the central area of Whatcom County and boasts of it's Dutch community feeling. The downtown's architecture is designed with all the flair of Holland such as windmills and store frontages providing a provincial feeling. There are many parks located in the city along with a PGA golf course, located in the Homestead community. Beautiful views of the mountain range featuring Mt. Baker. Lynden has been voted the second prettiest city in the United States. Farm land abounds and the area is considered one of the berry capitals. Lynden homes range from vintage homes to luxury homes and homes with acreage.
Everson Washington
Located 10 miles each of Lynden and 15 miles northeast of Bellingham. An Everson home is at the foothills of the Casade range. It also connects to Nooksack Washington. Both lead the way to the mountains. Only mintues to skiing, etc. This community is definitely for those who enjoy small town USA. To call Everson home wouldn't be hard.
